Abstract

The Society 5.0 era presents both challenges and opportunities for Islamic religious education in madrasahs. This study aims to analyze the innovations and adaptations needed to face this era by using a qualitative method with a Library Research approach and content analysis.

The findings reveal that the main challenges include limited technological infrastructure and insufficient human resource readiness. Many madrasahs still rely on traditional methods and experience resistance to digital transformation.

On the other hand, the study highlights significant opportunities for improving learning quality through the integration of e-learning platforms, AI, AR/VR technologies, digital literacy, and adaptive learning systems. Madrasahs are encouraged to balance technological innovation with Islamic values and local wisdom.

The research concludes that comprehensive strategies are needed, including infrastructure development, teacher competency enhancement, curriculum reform, and policy support to ensure successful digital transformation in Islamic education institutions.
